Open-Source Investigations
Structured research using public records, satellite and geospatial data, media archives and publicly available online material.
OSINT · HUMINT · Public Interest
SPG PublicWorks Inc. is a non-profit research organization that gathers, verifies and publishes information from open sources and consenting human sources, so communities, journalists and civic institutions can act on facts.
Our Mission
Vast amounts of information are available to anyone, but making sense of it takes skill, time and discipline. We do that work on behalf of the public, combining rigorous open-source research with carefully sourced interviews and field reporting.
Our research is guided by a published code of standards: we work within the law, protect the people who speak with us, and never target private individuals. What we find, we verify. What we publish, we stand behind.
What We Do
Our work spans investigation, verification and education, always aimed at strengthening public knowledge.
Structured research using public records, satellite and geospatial data, media archives and publicly available online material.
Interviews and field reporting with informed, consenting sources, handled under strict confidentiality and safety protocols.
Authenticating images, video, documents and claims so that newsrooms and the public can separate evidence from rumor.
Practical, ethics-first instruction in open-source research for journalists, students, researchers and community groups.
Transparent, sourced reports and datasets released for public benefit, with our methods documented so others can check them.
Collaborations with newsrooms, academic institutions and civil-society organizations on research of shared public concern.
How We Work
Every project follows the same accountable process, from the first question to the published result.
Frame a clear public-interest question and review it against our ethical standards before any collection begins.
Gather lawfully available information and on-record or protected testimony, logging every source.
Corroborate each finding across independent sources and subject conclusions to internal peer review.
Release findings with methods and sourcing explained, and correct the record openly if we get something wrong.
Our Standards
Research techniques are powerful. We hold ourselves to clear rules about how we use them, and we publish those rules.
